Shaker Logistics is undergoing a period of intense growth and needs a stellar professional to create and develop the company’s human resources function from scratch. This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role where you’ll establish practices around recruiting and hiring, employee relations and culture, compensation and benefits, organizational development, and compliance. You’ll be the company’s first HR hire and a key employee who will help us recruit and retain the team members we need to support our growth — everyone from truck drivers to customer service reps to warehouse associates to managers. You’ll do all of this while ensuring our workplace reflects our values. After you and the leadership team have had the opportunity to assess Shaker’s ongoing HR staffing needs together, it’s anticipated that a second HR staff member will be added.
Our competitive compensation for this role includes a bonus program. We offer benefits like health insurance, dental, paid vacations, holidays and sick time, and a 401K retirement program.
Our team is close-knit and empowered to make smart decisions on behalf of our customers and company. It’s a collaborative environment where top performers are rewarded.
We operate from a new, state-of-the art headquarters in Waterford, which has lots of great amenities for employees to fuel their productivity with espresso and seltzer.

Your number one goal as a sales and business development role at Shaker Logistics is to help us grow by adding new customers and new revenue. You’ll do this by prospecting and cold calling companies in manufacturing, chemical, and other industries to understand their supply chain and logistics needs and then assemble solutions for them based on what Shaker offers. You’ll take a holistic view and be selling not just lanes and loads, but overall 3PL services like warehousing and freight management. You’ll be expected to manage your own pipeline, work with our operations team to build RFP responses, and quickly scale up new customers into reliable sources of revenue for the company. This role is a blend of inside and field sales; you’ll occasionally be visiting local or regional customers (once it’s safe to do so) but much of your work will be done via phone and email, since we sell and service customers nationwide.
Compensation for this role is a combination of salary plus incentives, based on quota attainment and other performance achievement. We offer benefits like health insurance, dental, paid vacations, holidays and sick time, and a 401K retirement program.

The Logistics Specialist role is a bit of sales, customer service, and operations all rolled into one. No day is ever the same! Your primary responsibility is to establish and maintain quality relationships with customers and shippers. We need you to add new qualified accounts while maintaining your current client base. You will be finding solutions to our customers’ problems through teamwork and collaboration with our carrier services team. Once you have quoted and won business, you will then oversee the shipment to completion, all while updating and communicating back to your customer when necessary.

The Carrier Services Representative role is a bit of sales, customer service, and operations all rolled into one. You’ll never have a dull day! Your primary responsibility is to establish and maintain quality relationships with trucking companies — the carriers who ship loads of freight for our customers. We want you to add new, qualified carriers to our network so that we have more options for shipping freight. You’ll be a matchmaker: figuring out which carriers are best suited to ship different types of freight for our customers, and then negotiating rates and details with those carriers. While freight is en route, you’ll oversee shipments and work directly with carriers to ensure things are going smoothly, and help handle any curve balls that are thrown (they always are!).
